The Express Lane
Bette Nesmith Graham, Liquid Paper and 3 P's and a POD!
Her story is beyond fascinating.
The year was 1951.
Bette Nesmith Graham sat at her desk typing away as an executive secretary for a bank. Periodically she fingered the wrong keys, jumbling her correspondence with misspelled words.
Her ingenuity kicked in and she began to test varied mixtures to correct her mistakes.
She hit pay dirt when she took a watercolor brush and applied tempera water-based paint to the blemished areas, blotting out the unwanted letters.
Her discovery fed her entrepreneurship spirit, leading her to form The Mistake Out Company.
She later changed its name to Liquid Paper (which magically blessed secretaries, authors, and all writers before the advent of computer-age backspacing).
And the rest is ... history.
In 1979 Bette Nesmith Graham sold Liquid Paper for a massive 47.5 million dollars plus royalties to Gillette!
Why am I telling you this story?
Because the inspirational, storied life of Bette Nesmith Graham will guard you from self-defeat and move you forward in your journey of goal accomplishment.
What Bette Nesmith Graham teaches can change your life dramatically!
Here's an interesting note before going forward ...
Some of you baby boomers (of which I'm a member) and beyond may remember the Monkees, one of the most popular bands of the 1960's. They were a pop-rock band that also enjoyed notoriety on the television screen with a series by the same name.
But here's the deal ...
Among the musical crew of the Monkees was a young man named Michael Nesmith.
You guessed it!
Bette Nesmith Graham's son.
And one of the great hits of the Monkees was "I'm a Believer."
Bette Nesmith Graham, creator of Liquid Paper, certainly teaches us to BELIEVE IN OURSELVES.
NOW…More Encouragement For You!
PRINCIPLE
Own your mistakes. As Bette Nesmith Graham reviewed her work and noticed her alphabet mix-up, instead of taking a "don't care attitude," she knew that her mistakes had to be blotted away into oblivion. Whether your mistakes are "type-set" or more serious (character flaws, relationship issues, work-related), take responsibility. It's the right thing to do.
PLAN
Use negative experiences to build a better you. Be creative in finding ways to solve problems. Bette Nesmith Graham's ingenuity saved her time, made her more efficient, and deposited millions into her bank account.
POSITIVE APPROACH GOING FORWARD
Don't allow mistakes to deter you from doing your best. Turn obstacles into opportunities. Bette Nesmith Graham's pursuit of excellence opened unimaginable doors for her. It can do the same for you.

Motivating Mouths
Helen Keller rose above the dual challenge of being deaf and blind to encourage our world. I live in Killen, Alabama, a small community not far from Ivy Green, Helen Keller's birthplace and childhood home in Tuscumbia, Alabama. Her adamant refusal to bow to obstacles in life inspires us to give our absolute best in life. Below is a quote from this remarkable lady.
"A bend in the road is not the end of the road ... unless you fail to make the turn" - Helen Keller
